How to arrive to Soto Myoko 

Car (recommended)

In the snow season, ensure your rental car is a 4WD with snow tires. Driving without snow tires in the Myoko area is dangerous. A four wheel drive vehicle is necessary.

By train
From Tokyo (2 hours, 50 minutes)

JR Tokyo Station or JR Ueno Station take the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Nagano. Change to Kita-Shinano Line (Shinano Tetsudo) to Myoko Kogen. SOTO Lodge offers a bus service from and to Myoko Kogen station.
SOTO Lodge provides a shuttle service to and from Myoko Kogen station, but this is exclusively for guests who have booked individual rooms at SOTO Lodge. For guests who have rented out the entire lodge or SOTO House, it is advised to arrange their own transportation by car.

From Tokyo’s Narita Airport (4 hours)

Route 1: From Narita Airport, Keisei Train Station take the Keisei Skyliner to Keisei Ueno Station. Change to JR Ueno Station and board the JR Hokuriku Shinkansen to Nagano. At Nagano change to the Kita-Shinano Line (Shinano Tetsudo Line) to Myoko Kogen.


Route 2: From Narita Airport, JR Train Station, take the JR Narita Express to Tokyo Station. At Tokyo Station, board the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Nagano. At Nagano change to the Kita-Shinano Line (Shinano Tetsudo Line) to Myoko Kogen.

Getting Around the Myoko Area

Having your own car is the most convenient way to get around the Myoko area.

SOTO Lodge also offers a shuttle bus service to nearby ski areas.


The shuttle bus services connect Akakura Onsen with different snow resorts .


The Mt. Myoko Shuttle connects Akakura Onsen, Akakura Kanko, Ikenotaira, and Suginohara ski resorts. A one way ticket is 1,000 Yen. The Madarao Shuttle and the Lotte Arai Resort Shuttle connect Akakura Onsens with these ski resorts.
